Every day the children in Year 2 decide when in the day they would like to go and complete independent learning challenges outside. Each week there are different learning opportunities available, helping them to develop a range of skills across all areas of the curriculum.

This week, they particularly enjoyed learning to read common exception words whilst playing a game involving the planets of the solar system. They developed their ball skills by using the technique of rolling to improve their accuracy by trying to roll the ball to the same point on the wall each time. They also developed their coordination and balance by developing their skipping skills. Some children are already experts and were excellent coaches as they supported other children to master this tricky skill by breaking it down into small steps. Everyone challenged themselves by seeing how many skips they could do without stopping and trying hard to improve their score.
