04 Mar Moon Zoom!
The children really enjoyed the ‘Moon Zoom’ topic last term. The topic really absorbed all the children and they learned lots about Space.
During the Engage stage, the children were very eager to make the paper mache planets and add them to the Space role-play area. The children researched Space using books and pre-selected internet sites which further Engaged them with the topic.
The children Developed their knowledge and enjoyed learning about people who are of historic importance due to their involvement in travelling to Space. They thought about what humans need for basic survival and related it to Space travel.
In the Innovate stage, the children designed their own Space Vehicle according to agreed design criteria that they devised as a class. They added wheels that could turn and investigated how to join axles to wheels using dowelling and washers. The children really enjoyed you joining them in school to help them create their Space Vehicles. The children also thoroughly enjoyed their Space journey which expanded their knowledge about stars.
During the Express stage the children shared their learning with each other and you, their family and friends. They were pleased the Planetarium was able to visit on the Monday after half term.
